- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, diced or shredded
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Wash the cherry tomatoes thoroughly and dice them into small pieces.
- Chop the fresh basil leaves finely using the chiffonade method.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes and chopped basil.
- Add the minced garlic to the bowl.
- Pour in the balsamic vinegar and olive oil, stirring gently to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, adding red pepper flakes if desired.
- If using, fold in the Parmesan cheese for added flavor.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Arrange the sliced baguette or Italian bread on a baking sheet, leaving space between each slice.
- Drizzle olive oil over each slice, using a brush or spoon to spread it evenly.
- Toast the bread in the oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Optionally, rub a cut garlic clove over the top of each slice.
- Spoon the bruschetta mixture into a large bowl or create individual servings on each slice of toasted bread.
- Include all the juices from the bottom of the bowl for maximum flavor.
- Drizzle additional balsamic vinegar or olive oil over the assembled dip.
- Garnish with extra fresh basil leaves or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese if desired.
- Serve the bruschetta dip immediately while the bread is still warm and crispy.
- Pair with a chilled glass of white wine or sparkling water for a delightful experience.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
- This dip is best enjoyed fresh, as the bread can become soggy if left too long.
