Description

Savor the Cheddar Bacon Turkey Melt, a hearty sandwich featuring juicy turkey patties blended with sharp cheddar cheese and crispy bacon, all grilled between buttery bread slices. Ideal for a satisfying lunch or dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or white)
  • Butter for spreading on the bread
  • Optional: lettuce and tomato slices for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, shredded cheddar cheese, and crumbled bacon.
  2. Add the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard to the bowl.
  3. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  5. Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. Scoop out about 1/4 cup of the turkey mixture and form it into a patty. Repeat until all the mixture is shaped into patties (about 4-6 patties).
  7. Carefully place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side until golden brown.
  8. Flip the patties and cook for another 5-6 minutes on the other side until cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).
  9. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside on a plate, covering with foil to keep warm.
  10. Spread a generous amount of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  11. On the unbuttered side of two slices, place a cooked turkey patty. Add more shredded cheddar on top if desired.
  12. Layer lettuce and tomato on top of the turkey patty if using.
  13. Top with the other slice of bread, buttered side facing out. Repeat for remaining patties and bread slices.
  14. Wipe down the skillet and return it to medium heat.
  15. Carefully place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet.
  16. Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side until crispy and the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the sandwich with your favorite toppings or sauces.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding spices or herbs to the turkey mixture.
