Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 6 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or white)
- Butter for spreading on the bread
- Optional: lettuce and tomato slices for serving
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, shredded cheddar cheese, and crumbled bacon.
- Add the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard to the bowl.
- Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Scoop out about 1/4 cup of the turkey mixture and form it into a patty. Repeat until all the mixture is shaped into patties (about 4-6 patties).
- Carefully place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side until golden brown.
- Flip the patties and cook for another 5-6 minutes on the other side until cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside on a plate, covering with foil to keep warm.
- Spread a generous amount of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of two slices, place a cooked turkey patty. Add more shredded cheddar on top if desired.
- Layer lettuce and tomato on top of the turkey patty if using.
- Top with the other slice of bread, buttered side facing out. Repeat for remaining patties and bread slices.
- Wipe down the skillet and return it to medium heat.
- Carefully place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet.
- Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side until crispy and the cheese is melted.
