  • Author: Luna
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy a delicious twist on breakfast with this Cinnamon Roll French Toast, featuring rich flavors and a creamy glaze. Perfect for a special treat, it’s easy to customize with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices of cinnamon swirl bread (or any bread of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for the glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (softened, for the glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for the glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the glaze)
  • Optional: maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, crack the 4 large eggs and whisk until smooth.
  2. Add 1 cup of whole milk to the eggs and mix well.
  3. Pour in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, followed by 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Whisk until combined and slightly frothy.
  4. Take 8 slices of cinnamon swirl bread. Thicker slices work best for soaking.
  5. If the bread is stale, it will absorb the batter better. If fresh, let it sit out for about 30 minutes to dry.
  6. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Soak for about 10-15 seconds on each side.
  7. Place the soaked slices on a plate or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. In a large skillet or griddle, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat.
  9. Carefully place the soaked bread slices in the skillet, avoiding overcrowding.
  10. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  11. Transfer cooked French toast to a warm plate or keep in a low oven (around 200°F) while finishing the rest.
  12. In a small mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons softened cream cheese.
  13. Add 1 tablespoon of milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy, adjusting consistency with more milk if needed.
  14. Serve a slice of Cinnamon Roll French Toast on a plate.
  15. Drizzle the cream cheese glaze generously over the top.
  16. Optionally, sprinkle extra cinnamon on top.
  17. Serve with maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream on the side.

Notes

  • For best results, use slightly stale bread for better absorption of the batter.
  • Feel free to customize the glaze by adding more powdered sugar for sweetness or adjusting the milk for desired thickness.
