This Garlic Parmesan Herb Bread is a soft and aromatic homemade loaf infused with garlic, Parmesan cheese, and fresh herbs. It’s perfect as a side for soups and salads or enjoyed on its own with olive oil.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, parsley, rosemary, thyme, and Italian seasoning.
- After rising, punch down the dough and transfer it back to a floured surface.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick) and spread the herb mixture evenly over it.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long edge and pinch the seams to seal.
- Place the rolled dough seam-side down on a greased baking sheet and shape it as desired.
- Cover the loaf and let it rise for 30-45 minutes until puffed.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the top of the loaf with melted butter.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
- Slice the bread and serve with soups, salads, or as an appetizer.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
- Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
Notes
- Ensure the water temperature is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- Feel free to customize the herb mixture with your favorite herbs.
- This bread is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored or frozen for later use.
