  • Yield: 1 loaf (approximately 12 slices) 1x

Description

This Garlic Parmesan Herb Bread is a soft and aromatic homemade loaf infused with garlic, Parmesan cheese, and fresh herbs. It’s perfect as a side for soups and salads or enjoyed on its own with olive oil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, parsley, rosemary, thyme, and Italian seasoning.
  7. After rising, punch down the dough and transfer it back to a floured surface.
  8. Roll the dough into a rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick) and spread the herb mixture evenly over it.
  9. Roll the dough tightly from one long edge and pinch the seams to seal.
  10. Place the rolled dough seam-side down on a greased baking sheet and shape it as desired.
  11. Cover the loaf and let it rise for 30-45 minutes until puffed.
  12. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  13. Brush the top of the loaf with melted butter.
  14. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  15. Let the bread cool on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  16. Slice the bread and serve with soups, salads, or as an appetizer.
  17. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
  18. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.

Notes

  • Ensure the water temperature is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • Feel free to customize the herb mixture with your favorite herbs.
  • This bread is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored or frozen for later use.
