Taco Bell Beefy Melt Burrito: A Delicious Review and How to Make It at Home

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 burritos 1x

Description

These beef burritos are filled with seasoned ground beef, creamy nacho cheese, and fresh toppings, all wrapped in warm flour tortillas. Ideal for a quick dinner or a fun gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground beef. Use a spatula to break it apart as it cooks.
  2. Cook the beef for about 5-7 minutes, or until it’s browned and no longer pink. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  3. Once the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat from the skillet to keep the burrito from becoming greasy.
  4. Add the taco seasoning mix to the beef. Pour in 1 cup of water and stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. While the beef is simmering, take your flour tortillas out. If you prefer warm tortillas, heat them in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, or microwave them for about 10-15 seconds.
  7. Keep the tortillas warm by wrapping them in a clean kitchen towel or placing them in a tortilla warmer.
  8. Once the beef filling is ready and the tortillas are warm, lay a tortilla flat on a clean surface.
  9. Spoon about 1/4 of the beef mixture into the center of the tortilla. Avoid overfilling.
  10. Drizzle about 1/4 cup of nacho cheese sauce over the beef.
  11. Add a dollop (about 2 tablespoons) of sour cream on top of the nacho cheese sauce.
  12. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Add diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, and shredded lettuce if desired.
  13. Roll the burrito by folding the sides of the tortilla inwards, then rolling it from the bottom up, tucking in the filling as you go. Roll tightly to keep everything inside.
  14. Repeat this process for the remaining tortillas and filling to make four burritos.
  15. To achieve a crispy exterior, pan-fry the burritos. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
  16. Once the oil is hot, place the burritos seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  17. Carefully flip the burritos over and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are crispy and golden.
  18. Alternatively, you can bake the burritos. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the assembled burritos seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  19. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the tortillas are golden and crispy.
  20. Once cooked, remove the burritos from the skillet or oven and let them cool for a minute.
  21. Slice each burrito in half diagonally for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences. Avocado, jalapeños, or black beans can be great additions!
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground beef with black beans or lentils.
